Inside Google’s Team Canvas Painting Session: One Mountain, Many Versions

For a team at Google, we ran a guided canvas painting session in the office: something everyone could do together, without anyone feeling put on the spot, with one scene the whole room painted side by side.
What we ran
Each person had their own easel, palette and canvas. The scene was a snowy mountain peak under a bright blue sky, with a tiny figure walking towards it. It is a design that looks impressive when finished but breaks down into simple steps: sky, mountain shape, snow highlights, then the small details that make it yours.
Why a single scene works so well for teams
- Nobody is lost. Everyone is on the same step at the same time, so people help each other naturally.
- Every result is different. Same mountain, but no two skies or snowlines look alike, which is half the fun when you line them up.
- It photographs beautifully. A row of easels with matching mountains makes the team photo of the quarter.
The moment people relax
Most of our sessions follow the same arc. The first ten minutes are quiet and careful. Then the first sky turns out well, someone laughs at their wonky peak, and the room loosens up. By the end, people are walking around to see each other’s canvases.
How a Qreative session runs
- Zero prep for HR: our team arrives before yours, sets up every table and cleans up afterwards.
- An artist leads: every step is demonstrated, so nobody needs to have painted before.
- Everything included: materials, aprons and set-up.
- Everyone takes their piece home.
- Easy paperwork: a GST invoice for every booking, MSME compliant, one point of contact.
Bring it to your team
Canvas painting works for a team of 10 or a floor of hundreds, in a conference room, a cafeteria or an offsite venue. We can match the scene to your occasion or brand colours.
Details in this story come from the session itself and our photos from the day.
